For my ART291 class at the University of Miami, the final project required me to compile a selection of my own work to correspond to each of the elements and principles of design. The purpose of the project was to create an interactive booklet that would educate others about what I had learned in the class. Since no one reads anything anymore if it’s not available online, I asked if I could design a mobile-friendly e-book instead. To give myself a little more space, I designed the app to be used on an iPad rather than the iPhone.
Personally, I feel like if I didn’t know what color or line is I probably shouldn’t have been in that class. These are the bare basics of design, which are crucial to understand, but repetitive and condescending to explain. Nonetheless, this project forced me to creatively compile my work and apply the elements and principles of design to projects I had already completed. Hopefully you learn a little bit about me and graphic design in general from this!
